In the summer of 1979 Pietro Carrara traveled to North Europe for tourism purposes.
The landscape and the traditions of the native people of this still
unexplored region fascinated him. What impressed Pietro Carrara’s
entrepreneurial desire the most were the knitwear items he saw in the
city of Bergen.
There, he had the chance to visit the “Dale” factory, which uses water
repellent wool to manufacture pullover cardigan and accessory
reproducing the heraldic symbols of the most ancient and
wealthyNorwegian family.
The following year Pietro Carrara founded the Viking. He based the head
office in Calalzo di Cadore, in the heart of the Dolomites.
The business started with the import and distribution of Scandinavian
items. Today, the collection that the Viking sells is suitable for any
kind of outdoors activities such as snowboard and climbing.
