We're all about treading lightly these days. And the latest footwear design from Vancouver-based Holeys weighs so little it practically floats. Called the Coastal Boot, it's designed for rainy sidewalks and cottage decks as much as for squelchy forest trails.

Like the company's plastic clogs, which look a lot like Crocs, the ankle boots feature a slip-resistant rubber sole. At about $25 a pair, they're recession-friendly. And they're both odour-resistant and washable, so they're perfect for your kids to kick around in.

The adult version has removable memory-foam insoles, and the generous width means they are easy to slip in and out of (those with narrow feet will need thick socks).

The fun is in the range of colours and patterns, from basic black to turquoise and bubblegum pink. There are also camo versions with digitally generated prints of a boggy forest floor. Yes, those ones are designed for hunters, but we like them better for mucking about our new veggie plot. Because it's a jungle out there, dude.

$24.99 a pair at mass-market
retailers or online through http://www.holeys.com.
